Bogorinfo.com – In order to realize the vision of the World Maritime Axis, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment through the Secretariat of Deputy for Maritime Sovereignty and Energy Coordination held a Theoretical Study Meeting, the Concept of the Maritime Leadership Index, and the Maritime Sovereignty Index in Jakarta on Monday, (04-07-2022).
This meeting emphasized on improving the preparation of the Maritime Leadership Index and Maritime Sovereignty Index from an academic perspective as part of the Main Performance Indicators (KPI) of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
“It is hoped that these two indicators can become a national reference to describe the success of the Indonesian Government in realizing its grand vision of becoming the World Maritime Axis,” said Deputy Basilio Dias Araujo.
The meeting was also attended by Expert Staff for Maritime Economics, Sugeng Santoso, who responded to the material given by resource persons, especially regarding the formation of the Maritime Leadership Index and Maritime Sovereignty Index. can be compared later with existing indicators and activities,” he concluded.
According to him, these two indexes are performance indicators related to the main tasks and functions of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment. Both have strategic positions because they are a benchmark for the success of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment which is also related to the accountability of government agencies’ performance.
In its realization, a number of strategic targets have been set through the Strategic Plan of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries 2020-2024 and revealed through the Performance Agreement (PK) of the Coordinating Ministry, “One of the strategic targets in the stakeholder perspective of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is the Firm Identity of Indonesia as an Independent and Sovereign Maritime State, ” added the Deputy Secretary for Coordination of Maritime Sovereignty and Energy, Ishak O. Manafe.

Dr. Surya Wiranto, S.H., M.H. from the Defense University, and Yogi Suprayogi Sugandi, S.Sos., M.A., A., Ph.D. from Padjadjaran University. Also present were representatives of the Planning Bureau and Legal Bureau of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, and the event was moderated by Panky Tri Febiyansah, S.E., MIDEC. as a Young Researcher at the National Research and Technology and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
These four resource persons conveyed various inputs and comprehensive conceptualization of the maritime leadership index and maritime sovereignty index. According to Akhmad Solihin, understanding the basic concept of sovereignty is fundamental, so lowering it into the KPI for the better and the results of the recommendations can be seen, “In making existing indicators it will be easier if the basic concept of sovereignty can be mastered well,”. Not only that, the strengthening of the IKU will not only benefit the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries but also for other relevant Ministries and Institutions.
It is hoped that this meeting will be able to provide insight and deepen the academic perspective of the Maritime Leadership Index Concept and Maritime Sovereignty Index in order to realize the great ideals of the world maritime axis.
